PAET Supports Children’s Cancer Services during uncertain times of Covid-19

Today, PanAfrican Energy Tanzania Limited (PAET) has donated USD 20,000 to Children’s Cancer Services in Tanzania. The company has decided to give the sum to Tumaini La Maisha (TLM), a children’s Cancer NGO to ensure that this vital treatment that saved the lives of so many Tanzanian children is not interrupted during these uncertain times of COVID 19. PAET’s donation will assist TLM in sustaining its incredible, lifesaving work, by ensuring medical supplies remain available.

This donation is in addition to PAET’s on-going support to TLM where in 2019 PAET sponsored TLM with USD 190,000 to continue their expansion of childhood cancer services to the Lindi Region.

PAET provides various support and donations to community health and educational projects in Kilwa District.

In 2015, PAET handed over two modern residential buildings for Nangurukuru community dispensary to the Kilwa district Council. The completion of the medical staff houses enable the health facility to provide critical 24 hours service to over eight thousand community members who previously had to travel long distance for treatment.

In 2014 PAET funded the completion of the Nangurukuru community health dispensary in Kilwa district. The state-of-the-art dispensary was constructed to improve access to outpatient, maternal and Child health facilities and a modern maternity wing.

In a bid to compliment the district’s effort to reduce child mortality, PAET handed over a fully furnished maternity waiting home at Kilwa district hospital. This is a residential facility located near to a qualified medical facility where ladies defined as high risk can await their delivery and be transferred to the nearby facility to ensure the highest level of available care and treatment possible. So far 327 expectant mothers have used the facility.

Regional Expansion of Paediatric Oncology Services across Tanzania

PAET is examining an opportunity to support the expansion of Paediatric Oncology services to other regional Hospitals across Tanzania.

PAET hopes such support will provide the required early diagnosis of children with certain cancers in remote regions in Tanzania. In particular, PAET hopes to fund the establishment of a new site for treatment in Lindi. This support will mean many more children are accessing quality lifesaving paediatric oncology treatment services close to home.

PAET is actively looking at options to invest in a long-term relationship with a children’s cancer charity and together to make a substantial contribution to continued success of increasing survival rate of childhood cancer in Tanzania.
